John Keble C of E Primary

Mrs Vidler challenged each class to find one person they would like to research for Black History Month.

Black History Month in the UK is an annual celebration held every October to recognise and honour the contributions, achievements, and history of Black people in Britain and around the world. It’s a time to reflect on the struggles and successes of Black communities, raise awareness of racial injustice, and celebrate Black culture, heritage, and identity.

We learnt about Mary Seacole from Holly Class, Rosa Parks from Willow Class, Martin Luther King from Hazel Class, Mo Farrah from Cherry Blossom Class and Roy Hackett from Chestnut Class. It was really inspiring to hear all about these brave men and women who stood up for what they knew was right. Their actions have made our world a fairer place to live but we also know that there is still so much we could do.

Year 6 left us with a challenging thought- will you be a change maker?
